Creation Game

Age Group: This Bible story game is suitable for children three to ten years old.

Materials Needed:

  • Loose dirt
  • Clear plastic container
  • Small plastic animals

This creation game is to be played after the story of creation is told.  Have students sit in a circle on the flooring.  Pass around a container filled with loose dry dirt - potting soil would be ideal.  Have small, plastic animals buried in the dirt.  Do this ahead of time and make sure the animals are not visible at the start of the game.  Review the story of creation.  God made the animals and us out of dirt.  Then let each student dig around in the dirt and choose an animal or two.  Then pass the container of mud on to the next person.  It is most fun for students if they are able to keep the animal they brought out of the dirt.  (Plastic animals can be purchased in packs at  dollar stores.)

Creation Story Intro

Age Group: This Bible story introduction would be good for children from two to eight years of age.

Materials Needed:

  • Potting soil
  • Clear plastic container
  • Plastic animal

Here’s a great introduction to use with the story of creation.

Show the students some dirt (with a plastic animal hidden in it).  Dry potting soil works best.  Have the dirt in a clear plastic container.

Ask the children:

  • What is dirt good for?
  • What can you make out of dirt?

Then pull out the animal that you previously buried in the dirt.

Ask the children:

  • Could I make a real, live animal out of mud?
  • Who could do something like that?
